Destination weddings don't have to be held in another country
According to the WeddingWire survey, almost 1 in 4 couples consider their wedding to be a type of destination wedding, but just 13 percent said it took place abroad. 43 percent of those who defined their wedding as a destination wedding got married in a different state, not a various nation. And only one-third of couples hosting a destination wedding had to fly to get there.
Tropical destination weddings remain in the minority
Okay, so a destination wedding does not require a crazy amount of travel, but many destination weddings take location on the beach? Just 22 percent of couples host their destination wedding in what's considered a tropical destination.
Couples pick an area that's special to them
The answer to the concern "what is a destination wedding?" might be this simple: A destination wedding is hosted in a location that's unique to the couple, that doesn't include their hometowns or where they presently live. According to the WeddingWire study, 53 percent of couples picked their wedding destination because it's meaningful to them. And half of couples in the study picked to have a destination wedding because it's a special experience. Whether it's a favorite destination, a cherished city, or a college town, millennial couples desire every aspect of their wedding, from the place to the smallest of information, to feel personal.
Couples hosting a destination wedding have a longer engagement
You may believe a laid-back destination wedding can be thrown together at the last-minute, however these wedding events require quite a bit more planning than a hometown event. And if couples desire to visit their wedding area a few times to meet with suppliers, that will require additional time.
Destination weddings have method less guests than hometown wedding events
It probably comes as no surprise that destination weddings have fewer guests than hometown weddings. If you're asking your visitors to take time off of work, travel, and remain overnight, some of your member of the family and buddies are bound to have disputes. According to the WeddingWire study, the average couple hosts 94 visitors at a destination wedding, as compared to 132 visitors at a home town wedding. And as all of us understand, more visitors equal a more expensive wedding, so this could be why destination weddings are typically thought about a more economical undertaking.
Destination weddings are held throughout the day
62 percent of couples host their destination wedding ceremonies in Las Vegas Destination Weddings the daytime, as opposed to 54 percent of couples weding in their hometowns. And another fascinating truth-- couples hosting a destination wedding are less most likely to hold their ceremony in a home of praise (only 12 percent do, as opposed to a quarter of those hosting a home town occasion), suggesting they're probably choosing for outside event settings to fully embrace their wedding place.
Couples hosting a destination wedding are most likely to work with a wedding organizer
Less than a quarter of couples hosting home town weddings employ a wedding planner, and most often they're enlisting a day-of organizer. Plainly, couples hosting destination weddings see the long list of benefits of working with a coordinator, whether it be one who is based in their wedding location (our suggestion) or a pro from their home base.
